James Newby and Milan Siljanov announced as Independent Opera Fellowship recipients

We are pleased to announce that the Wigmore Hall/Independent Opera Voice Fellowship for 2016 - 2018 has been awarded to James Newby.

James is currently in his final year of study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance under the tutelage of Alison Wells. He will continue his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, on the Masters in Opera Studies course with Robert Dean from September.

The two year Wigmore Hall/IO Fellowship offers the recipient the unique opportunity to be mentored under the auspices of Wigmore Hall, with access to singing lessons and coaching sessions with top opera singers as well as funding to support their career progression.


Milan Siljanov has been awarded an Independent Opera Postgraduate Voice Fellowship for 2016 - 2017.

Milan is in his final year of study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama on the Masters Opera Studies course with Rudolf Piernay, supported by an Independent Opera Voice Scholarship and The Worshipful Company of Wax Chandlers. Milan was the winner of the 2015 Wigmore Hall/Kohn Foundation International Song Competition.
