Jade Moffat Mezzo Soprano

Recipient of Independent Opera Voice Scholarship 2016

Jade Moffat is entering the final year of the GSMD masters Opera Course under the tutelage of Yvonne Kenny. Jade graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Advanced Performance from the Queensland Conservatorium in 2012, whilst also being a member of Opera Queensland’s Young Artist Program. Jade recently won the Australian Singing Competition’s Marianne Mathy Scholarship, the Joan Sutherland Award and the Joan Sutherland Memorial Vocal Scholarship. She was also the recipient of the Dame Nellie Melba Scholarship with the Melba Opera Trust in 2014 and 2015.

On the concert platform, Jade has appeared as the mezzo soloist for several key works, including; Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Verdi’s Requiem, Durufle’s Requiem, Handel’s Saul, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Dixit Dominus, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Bottesini’s Messa da Requiem, and Durufle’s Requiem

Operatic roles include: Fenena in Verdi’s Nabucco, Judith in Bartok’s Bluebeards Castle, Mrs Nolan in Menotti’s The Medium and the cover role of Kate Pinkerton in Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour’s Madama Butterfly. She made her Opera Queensland debut as Diane in Philip Glass’s The Perfect American. Jade looks forward to performing the role of Marta in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, and Mother in Stravinsky’s Mavra in London later this year.
