Emyr Wyn Jones Baritone
Recipient of Independent Opera Postgraduate Voice Fellowship 2015
Emyr is a recent graduate of the opera course at RWCMD, studying with Eric Roberts and Michael Pollock. Whilst studying his roles have included Don Alfonso Cosi Fan Tutte, Sid Albert Herring, Forrester Cunning Little Vixen, Figaro Le Nozze di Figaro.
Other engagements include: Ben Benny/cover Hel Helson Paul Bunyan (Welsh National Youth Opera), Benoit/Alcindoro La Boheme, Schelkalov/Boyar Khruschov Boris Godunov, Henry Cuffe Gloriana (St. Endellion Opera Festival, Cornwall) and Cover Nana/Starkey Peter Pan (Welsh National Opera), receiving an Independent Opera Fellowship Award for this performance. In the Summer of 2016 Emyr performed the title role in the RWCMD production of Verdi’s Falstaff conducted by Carlo Rizzi, before performing with the Hallé Orchestra in a Somme Commemoration Concert.
Emyr is a RWCMD HRH Prince of Wales Scholar, Dame Shirley Bassey Scholar, and received the David and Phillipa Seligman Award for Excellence. He has also won the 2015 MOCSA Young Welsh Singer of the Year Award, 2015 Bruce Millar Gulliver Opera Prize, Lee Freeman Memorial Prize, 2013 Fresh Young Actor Award and most recently the prestigious Ian Stoutzker Prize at RWCMD.
