William Towers
William read English at Cambridge University and studied at the Royal Academy of Music. Current roles include Apollo (Britten Death in Venice) for Frankfurt Opera, Poro (Handel Poro) at Göttingen, Ottone (Monteverdi L’incoronazione di Poppea) for Opera Theatre Company and Ottone in McVicar’s production of Handel’s Agrippina for Frankfurt Opera. Previous roles include Medoro (Handel Orlando) and Farnace (Mozart Mitridate) for the ROH, Oberon (Britten A Midsummer Night’s Dream) with Gardiner for Teatro La Fenice Venice, and with Hickox for the ROH2 and at Aldeburgh, Lotario (Handel Lotario) for the London Handel Festival, Eustazio (Handel Rinaldo) for Grange Park and Lance (Paul Frehner Sirius on Earth) for the Almeida.
William has appeared at the Barbican, Royal Albert Hall, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Berlin Konzerthaus, Großes Festspielhaus Salzburg, Konzerthaus Vienna, National Auditorium Madrid, Flanders Early Music Festival and La Chaise Dieu, and with the CBSO, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, The King’s Consort, Gabrieli Consort and ECO. William was a soloist in Gardiner’s Bach Cantata Pilgrimage. Future roles include Death in Venice at Bregenz, Oberon at the Linbury, Orlando (Handel Orlando) in Göttingen, and Endimione (Cavalli La Calisto) in Frankfurt. Concerts include Death in Venice with Hickox, Handel’s Belshazzar with Nicholas McGegan and Bach’s B minor mass with the Netherlands Bach Choir.
