Meet IO’s new Creative Director: Natalie Murray Beale

Natalie Murray Beale steps into new role at Independent Opera as Creative Director.

Since joining Independent Opera in 2007, Natalie has played a crucial role in the development of our artistic endeavours and the artists we have supported over the past 10 years. We are therefore thrilled to announce that Natalie will be taking on a new role as Creative Director from this year.

As Creative Director, Natalie is leading on IO's latest project, the inaugural Scholars' Recital at the Wigmore Hall, working with the singers and pianist James Baillieu to programme a unique mix of classic repertoire alongside contemporary songs.  Natalie will continue to lead the selection panel for our Artist Support programme of scholarships and fellowships, and provide mentoring to award recipients throughout the duration of their awards.

Outside of IO, Natalie is busy working as a Conductor both here and abroad. She most recently conducted the European staged premiere of John Adams' The Gospel According to the Other Mary, with acclaimed Director Peter Sellars for Theater Bonn. Natalie also works with famed Conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen.

The ethos and wonderful people behind Independent Opera are very dear to me, so I am delighted to be taking up this new role as Creative Director and am very excited for our upcoming projects and events. Natalie Murray Beale
