The INDEPENDENT OPERA Vocal Scholarship is awarded to support a singer on the final year of the Opera Course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. About the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland

Building on an established tradition of fine singing in Scotland, in 1994, with the joint appointment of Timothy Dean as Head of Opera and Christopher Underwood as Head of Vocal Studies, the RSAMD created a two-year Masters in Opera. Now housed in the magnificent facilities of the purpose-built Alexander Gibson Opera School, it attracts singers from all over the world to study on a course which guarantees solo performance experience appropriate to their type and maturity of voice. A burgeoning relationship with Scottish Opera has already led to joint performances in the major commercial theatres of Glasgow and Edinburgh, and further exciting collaborations are currently under discussion.
