
Eliana Pretorian Soprano
Recipient of INDEPENDENT OPERA Postgraduate Voice Fellowship
Eliana Pretorian was born in Romania where she studied choreography, universal languages and physics. Following her studies in Romania, along with singing lessons from Ileana Ropcea, Eliana was awarded a scholarship at the Royal College of Music in London where she studied with Kathleen Livingston and, since 2005, with Lillian Watson. In 2005 she was the youngest finalist in the Kathleen Ferrier Competition. Eliana completed her studies at the Benjamin Britten International Opera School at the Royal College of Music and at the National Opera Studio.
Operatic engagements include performances of Naiad (Ariadne auf Naxos) at Garsington Opera, Despina (Così fan tutte) with Longborough Festival Opera, Gianetta (L'elisir d'amore), Pappagena (The Magic Flute) and Dew Fairy (Hänsel und Gretel) with Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Dirce (Medea) in Lisbon in under Lawrence Foster, Clorinda (Cenerentola) for Garsington Opera and Gianetta (L’elisir d'amore) for Glyndebourne Festival Opera.
In concert she has sung Mozart’s Mass in C minor with the Orchestra of St. John's at the Cadogan Hall and, at the invitation of the Solti Academy, she gave a recital at Wigmore Hall. In December 2007 she was invited to sing Handel’s Messiah at the Verizon Hall in Philadelphia with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Christopher Warren-Green.
