Alinka Kozári Soprano

Recipient of INDEPENDENT OPERA Postgraduate Voice Fellowship

Hungarian born Alinka finished her studies at the National Opera Studio, London, in 2007. She studied singing, teaching and singing methodology at the Ferenc Liszt Music Academy in Budapest with Magda Nádor, DLA, and received her diploma with Distinction in 2005 before joining the Birmingham Conservatoire on a Weingarten Scholarship. She currently studies singing with Lillian Watson.

Her operatic experience includes Norina (Don Pasquale), the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte) and Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail). She performed Princess Caraboo in Malcolm Williamson’s English Eccentrics in the Crescent Theatre, Birmingham. For British Youth Opera in London, she sang the role of Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) in 2006 and the role of the First Lady (Magic Flute) in 2007. She played Lucille in INDEPENDENT OPERA at Sadler's Wells' November 2007 production of The Sofa by Elizabeth Maconchy. In 2008 performances included the role of Adina (L'Elisir d'amore) with the Southbank Sinfonia in the Anghiari Festival in Italy and, for The Opera Group, the role of Sally Bones in the contemporary opera Varjak Paw by Julian Philips.

Alinka is the winner of the 2006 Mario Lanza Opera Prize, the St. Clare Barfield Memorial Bowl for Operatic Distinction 2006 and an award from the Simon Fletcher Charitable Trust 2006. She has also just been awarded the Hungarian State Eötvös Scholarship.

In 2007 Alinka took part in a masterclass with José Cura, a summer course at the George Solti Accademia di Bel Canto in Italy working with Leo Nucci and the Samling masterclass with Sir Thomas Allen.
