Alongside a main emphasis of presenting and producing dance, Sadler's Wells runs an ongoing programme of innovative opera from companies within the UK and worldwide. The theatre has a particular interest in productions where dance and opera come together either through choreographer-directed operas, or those with a strong dance element.
Sadler's Wells CEO and Artistic Director Alistair Spalding comments, "I’m delighted to be supporting Independent Opera, and this unique project for the development of young singers, directors, composers and choreographers. I applaud their desire to present lesser known repertoire and to approach existing operas in such an inventive way."
