Recipient of INDEPENDENT OPERA Designer’s Fellowship

Madeleine trained in Theatre Design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, she graduated in 2001.

Set and Costume Design: The Turn of the Screw for Opera North, Leeds; The barber of Baghdad for Buxton Opera Festival, Buxton; Turandot for Theatre Augsburg's Open Air Arena, Germany; 6 Characters in search of an Author for the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London; La Cenerentola  for Malmö Opera, Malmö, Sweden; The Siege of Calais for the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London; The Marriage/La Cambiale di Matrimonio for the Guildhall School of  Music and Drama, London; La fedeltà premiata at the Royal Academy of Music, London; Pelleas et Melisande for Independent Opera at the Lillian Bayliss Theatre, Sadler's Wells, London; Partenope for Opéra Les Azuriales, Cap Ferrat, France; La colombe /L’occasione fa il Ladro for the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London; La Gazzetta and La Scala di Seta for the Rossini Festival in Wildbad, Germany.

Set Design: The Sofa/The Departure for Independent Opera at Sadler’s Wells, London

Costume design: Peter Grimes, at the San Carlo Opera House, Napoli; Orfeo ed Euridice for Theatre Augsburg, Germany.

She was a finalist in the European Opera Directing Prize 2007 for her design concept for Rusalka, with Director Alessandro Talevi. She was awarded the 2008 design fellowship from Independent Opera.
